What the five days cover
Foundations — the part clients never see and always feel
Nail and skin anatomy, and the conditions you must recognise: fungal infection, psoriasis, damaged nail plate, allergy history. This is where you learn the bookings to decline, which protects your client and your reputation. Then sanitation and tool sterilisation, workstation setup, dust extraction and ventilation, and correct product handling — the professional standards that any inspector, insurer or salon owner in your home country will ask about.
You also learn dry manicure and pedicure technique, which is what our own studio uses and what most international clients now expect: cleaner, more hygienic and better for retention than soaking. It is on our menu as acrylic and gel extensions with dry manicure at $50, and it is a genuinely different skill from the soak-based method many courses still teach.
Acrylic extensions
Liquid-and-powder ratio — the single thing that separates a durable set from a lifting set. Bead control and placement, apex and structure (where strength actually comes from), tip application, sculpting on forms, and the C-curve. Then filing, shaping and refinement into square, coffin, almond and stiletto, plus infills and safe removal. You will be taught why a set lifts, not just how to reapply it.
Gel extensions and gel polish
Builder gel, soft gel tips, curing chemistry and lamp compatibility, structured gel manicures, and correct gel polish application with cuticle work that prevents peeling. You will learn when gel is the right answer and when acrylic is — clients ask, and a confident answer is what makes them trust you. Advanced nail art and design
Hand-painted detail, French and ombre fades, chrome and cat-eye finishes, encapsulation, marbling, and 3D work. Also colour theory and design proportion on a small curved surface, which is what stops nail art looking crowded. Art is where you set your own price rather than matching the salon down the road.
Live models and speed
Real hands, real time pressure, with your trainer beside you. Practice tips teach the motion; a live model teaches you what a client’s hand does while you are working, how long a full set genuinely takes, and how to hold a conversation without losing your apex. Speed is the difference between a hobby and a wage, and it only builds on real hands.
The kit — and why it matters more than you think
The full professional nail kit is included in the $750 fee, not sold alongside it. That is the difference between arriving home ready to work and arriving home with a certificate and a shopping list. Nails have a real advantage here over other beauty disciplines: your consumables are inexpensive and widely available, so restocking in your own country is straightforward rather than a supply problem.
The business case, honestly
Here is why nail techs fill diaries. A set of extensions needs infills every two to three weeks. A gel manicure needs redoing every two to three. Compare that to permanent makeup, where a delighted client returns in twelve to eighteen months. PMU has the higher ticket; nails have the frequency, and frequency is what pays rent.
Look at our own studio pricing as a shape rather than a promise, since your market will differ: acrylic extensions with dry manicure $50, gel extensions with dry manicure $50, manicure with gel polish $50, dry pedicure with gel polish $45, dry pedicure with extension $55, gel pedicure in the massage chair $90. Run those against your local rates. Two honest cautions. You will be slow at first; a full acrylic set takes an experienced tech well under two hours and will take you longer for the first month or two. Certification and working at home
You receive an international certificate on completion. As with any private beauty certificate anywhere in the world, it is not a licence — it is evidence of your training and hours, which is normally exactly what a local council, insurer, salon or landlord asks to see. Nail services are less heavily regulated than permanent makeup in most countries, but requirements vary, so check your local rule before booking and tell us what documentation you need so your paperwork matches it.
Planning the trip
Five training days plus two either side makes a comfortable ten-day trip, and a three-day art course fits inside a week. Nepal offers visa on arrival for most nationalities at Tribhuvan International Airport, we can provide a letter of invitation on request, arrange airport pickup and help you find accommodation near the studio at Sohrakhutte Chowk. Training is in English. October to November and March to April are the most comfortable months.
